You know when bloggers/influencers are like “I am always getting questions about this” and you roll your eyes, lol. OK so- I really do always get questions about how I curl my hair and what I use. It is so funny to me because I feel like it’s so easy and maybe even a hack? Little fact: I have no idea how to actually use a curling iron the way you are supposed to lol. It’s like my hands just don’t work that way. SO- I am here to show you what I use to get my loose curls and I even shared a reel on my Instagram this week so you can get a visual!
SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER
My hair is on the thinner side and doesn’t do well with super heavy shampoos or conditioners. I started using DAE about 6 months ago and I absolutely love how it makes my hair feel and smell. It doesn’t weigh it down, which is a big thing for me!
LEAVE IN CONDITIONER/HEAT PROTECTANT
I have been using ITS A 10 for probably 10 years now lol. It’s one of those products that when you love it, you love it. I generally get the biggest size bottle and it lasts me about 6-8 months. I only use it on weekends for the most part when I am applying heat to my hair.
anti-frizz treatment
This product is a little on the newer category for me. I believe I have been using the COLOR WOW SUPER SERUM for about 2-3 months. I had heard of it before and people always said it was amazing. Color Wow hit me up in the DMs to give it a try and I ended up loving it! I use this on Friday’s only as it lasts a few washes!
round brush blow dryer
I bought this baby last year when it was all the rage. I will be honest it took a little bit to figure out how to really work it and make it work for my hair. After some practice, I have grown to love this tool! The trick for me is to let my hair air dry about 75% and then use the drying brush to finish the drying process with minimal heat to my hair. This baby gets HOT but it also has a cool and low setting on it.
dry shampoo
I have been on the hunt for a dry shampoo that just works for me. I have tried probably 10 if I am being honest, lol. BUT, I decided to give the REDKIN DEEP CLEAN dry shampoo a shot after seeing another influencer rave about it and WOW so good. It also smells amazing!
TEXTURE SPRAY
Again, like dry shampoo, I have tried tons of texture sprays and was never wowed by any of them. I decided to get a sample size of this ORIBE texture spray and fell in love. While it is on the pricier side, it works amazing. I am sure there is a dupe out there, I just haven’t found it yet!
curling irons
Before investing in the T3 convertible collection, I used a drugstore brand curling iron for years. I decided to go ahead and buy a more expensive brand 1, because I liked how you can switch out the size of the barrel and only need essentially, 1 tool. Also, my curls always fell. Ever since changing to T3 they stay so much longer and also I am only leaving the iron on my hair for 5-7 seconds. In the past with other irons I am pretty sure I would count to 15 lol. So less time on my hair and a less chance for damage. I use it on the 3rd setting also, so not too hot. As far as sizing goes, I was always a 1.25inch girl. Generally that size gives the perfect loose curls. Once I cut my hair shorter I started using the 1inch size barrel. Now, I kind of switch back and forth depending on what I want for that day!
HAIRSPRAY
So I had been using a different hairspray for years and years and one day went to the store and they didn’t have it anymore. I was in a pinch so just bought one that I figured would work fine. I was actually super impressed by this AUSSIE 24 hour flexible hold because it doesn’t make my hair sticky or crunchy at all. It held the loose curls really well and I think it was like less than $5. So- my new favorite haha.
