Hey y’all! We just got back from our trip to Fort Worth, TX over the weekend and it was such a good time! I hadn’t been to the DFW area in like 15 years so it was definitely a whole new experience for me. In this post I am going to share what we did in Fort Worth as well as where we ate, what we saw, all the deets!
To give a little timeline: we left early Friday morning, around 7:30am and it is about a 4 hour drive for us from Houston. We got to our Airbnb around noonish and then relaxed for a bit then went off to lunch with my friend! The guys has a tee time of about 1:30 so we met up with them later.

FRIDAY
Our Airbnb in Fort Worth was super cute, only about 15 minutes from the Stockyards and reasonably priced! I will link it HERE for y’all!
For lunch we went to Maggie’s R&R, it was super cute and then menu had a bunch of good options! I ended up getting the “Salmon B.L.A.T” and a frozen strawberry margarita (or 2 lol). We sat outside because the weather was so nice and there was a band setting up as we were leaving. I feel like it would be a super cute casual dinner place too!
After lunch we made our way to the Stockyards as I was determined to get a nice straw hat! I have been wanting one for a while and didn’t want to just waste money on a poor quality one. We went to The Best Hat Store and I was able to pick out my pattern, get it shaped how I want and I fell in love with it! It’s giving major cowgirl vibes lol.
Once that was checked off the list we went into the Stockyards and walked around for a little bit and saw some sights. We eventually came upon Second Rodeo which is a super cool outdoor/indoor bar that also has some food. We didn’t eat there but the vibes are PERFECTION if you like outdoor bars. We ended up coming back here on Saturday for a few hours!
Once the guys were done golfing we headed back to the house to meet them there and get ready for our dinner reservations at 8:30pm at Maria’s.
Now, before I get all into the dinner fiasco… I do not want to trash a business or speak ill of them. I will say this: The food was pretty good, we ordered a few things…. but finally only got to eat the Chicken Tamales. They were actually AMAZING and we were very impressed with that meal.
As far as service goes, we weren’t a fan. We got there early around 8:15p and were sat immediately outside. Drinks took a long time as well as food. We finally left the place around 10:45p so we were there for quite some time. Orders were wrong, and missing. But like I said, once we did get our food, it was great. Management did come to our table and “make it right” on his end for our extremely long wait for everything which was nice.
After dinner we headed out to some local bars and had a great night! I think we spent most of our time at Cadillac Bar.
Saturday
Saturday brunch was at Gemele, which I think we all agreed completely redeemed our food experience in Fort Worth. Our service was amazing, the vibes were immaculate, and the food was TO DIE FOR. We all got a mix of pizzas and pastas, breadsticks and ended with the tiramisu. The drinks were super good too we all got the frozen Bellini and it was super tasty!
After lunch the plan was to head back to the Stockyards and go shopping, which we did! We went to a few places like Ariat, King Ranch, Luchesse, Flea Style, etc. We stopped in to Cowtown Winery for a drink and then eventually made our way back to Second Rodeo for a few drinks and to relax until we needed to head back to get ready for the concert.
Our whole purpose for this trip to Fort Worth was to see one of our favorite bands Turnpike Troubadours which had been on hiatus for a couple years. We made our way to Billy Bob’s Texas around 7:30/8pm which was pretty perfect timing to get in, get a drink and find where we wanted to stand while the opener was on. We lucked out with “Premium Pit” for our section which had us closest to the stage. I HIGHLY recommend to purchase that section if you go to a standing room concert there. We had our own beer booths, bathrooms, and it wasn’t too too crowded.
The concert was AMAZING and just was the cherry on top for such a great weekend! We headed home Sunday morning and took the day to nap and relax.
