Hey Y’all! Can you believe hat Thanksgiving is right around the corner? 2020 really is flying by so quickly it’s hard to keep up! While this year has been a whirlwind full of lots of lows, I feel it is important to celebrate the good things! And what better way to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season than a Friendsgiving! I mean, what is better than celebrating food & friendship? Since this year’s celebration was going to be smaller than our usual get-together, I knew that we weren’t going to have as much food to go around. Generally, each party brings a dish, so with less people attending means less dishes to share. I decided a way to still have lots of goodies to go around would to be by creating an easy fall themed charcuterie that way there was plenty of options for grazing.
This was my first time really creating any kind of charcuterie so I felt a little pressure, but was determined to knock it out of the park! I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg, so I split the grocery list up between Trader Joe’s and H-E-B. I believe the total for all items ended up being around $100 with some leftovers! Of course you could spend more or less depending on the size of your charcuterie, but I thought this was a pretty good budget for the size I was aiming for.
What I Bought For The Set Up
I knew I wanted to do more of a spread vs. a board. I wanted everyone elses dishes to be surrounding the charcuterie so that the kitchen table would be the one-stop shop for plating. I purchased some butcher paper/wrapping paper to use as the table cloth for the entire table. That way there were no hot dishes directly on my table & so everything looked aesthetically pleasing.
For setting the items on the table I used a sheet of wax paper so that the food wasn’t going to be directly on the butcher paper. It also gave me a little outline of how big the entire area would be. I used that to guide how much of everything I needed to add. It turned out to be the perfect size with all the other dishes around it.
What Food Items I Bought
So, after doing a little research I figured out I needed to buy about 4 of each category. Cheese, meat, fruit, veggie & cracker/bread. While I didn’t follow that to a T, it made it easier when I was at the store so that I wasn’t super overwhelmed by what to buy.
My grocery trips were actually super quick since I categorized everything I needed beforehand. So if this is your first time too, I definitely recommend making a categorized list first! Below I will show you exactly what I bought for our easy fall themed charcuterie. To make it more “fall themed” I decided to add in a pumpkin loaf, some caramel corn and some seasonal fruits!
I wanted to cover all bases with this charcuterie since we were going to be having guests who like all different things! It turned out to be a hit & I am so pleased with how it turned out. I also shared a Tiktok and Instagram story going into a little more detail and to every single item purchased. So make sure you are following me on both and go check it out!
