Hey y’all! We just got back from our anniversary trip to Fredericksburg, TX and WOW was it such a great time. We have been up there many times before, but this weekend was definitely on the verge of perfection. The weather, the company, the wine (of course)…it was just an amazing weekend! I shared as much as I could on stories with y’all but was asked to create an entire blog post/guide sharing all the deets about our weekend in Fredericksburg, TX so here we are!
I sat down and jogged my memory to write down all the places we went to this time exactly, but I also want to share some other great places we have gone to in the past that just didn’t make it to this trip.
FRIDAY day & night
Since Fredericksburg is about 4.5 hours away from Houston, we have to wake up really early to make it there before lunch time. I think we left the house around 6:15/6:30am since we wanted to hike Enchanted Rock first. We did this last year on our anniversary trip and it was a great experience. We definitely wanted to do it again!
After that we headed into town and met our friends at Hondo’s on Main. This restaurant is a must when in Fredericksburg. It’s super popular, so you have a better chance of getting a table during lunch time than dinner. Last year we waited for 2 hours for dinner, as they don’t take reservations. I recommend their chicken fried chicken, chicken fried steak, the enchiladas, or this time I tried the poblano chicken sandwich!
Once we finished lunch we headed to our Airbnb to check in! Our house was super nice and loved the location.
Our first stop of the afternoon was Das Peach Haus which is absolutely breathtaking! We came here last year too and it was instantly a favorite. They have lot’s of different wines but the view is what really gets you. After a couple drinks we headed back to Main Street for shopping and sight seeing.
We had dinner reservations at Crossroads at 8pm so we left Main around 6/6:30p to go back to the Airbnb to freshen up. I 1000% recommend making reservations as the waits here can get pretty long. They also have a bar with live music which is one of the only bar’s in town that stay open past 9pm. The food is soooo good but it is kind of pricy. For dinner I ate the salmon and Cody had the chicken fried steak! After dinner we just walked to the other side of the restaurant to hang out and listen to music.
We also went to Velvet Lounge for our last stop of the night. This is the other bar that stays open late. It’s actually a karaoke bar and so much fun!
Saturday
Saturday morning we woke up and headed to Woerner’s Warehouse for breakfast! It’s off main and doesn’t usually have a wait (you’ll see that most places will have a wait) and the food is super good! The menu is on the smaller side, but the coffee is great, and they have some good pastries too!
After breakfast we went straight into hitting up the wineries! I have listed all the ones we visited Saturday below:
Wineries We Went To:
Bingham Family Vineyards – a great mix of sweeter and dryer wines. Family oriented and the nicest staff! They have actually won a few awards at HLSR too!
Safari Winery – a mix of different wines from all over the world. Cool experience and a chance to taste some wines you can’t get anywhere else!
Augusta Vin – Probably the dreamiest place ever. We went ahead and bought a bottle of their Sauvignon Blanc & charcuterie board and shared it on the lawn. Probably my new favorite stop!
Fat Ass Winery – This one is Cody’s favorite! All sweet wines, they have frozen sangria too that is pretty good! A very chill atmosphere with a band usually, horse shoes and food trucks.
Alstadt Brewery – If you are a beer drinker this is a must stop. We always end up downstairs in the “speakeasy” style room and get a flight to sample the most popular brews.
Barron’s Creek Vineyards – This place is STUNNING. We did a tasting and also ordered the meat lover’s pizza to refuel haha. The pizza was probably the best I have ever had to be honest. Then we went and sat on the lawn for the remainder of the day until it was time to go get ready for dinner.
Saturday night
For dinner Saturday we kind of us hopped around until we found a place without a wait. We ended up at Hidden Hideaway and it was all outdoor, and a super chill environment. The food was OK. But, it beat waiting two hours for a table somewhere else.
After dinner we decided to head to Luckenbach, TX as we try to go every time we are in town. They have a dance hall and live music, along with some shops and honestly you just need to go at least once in your life.
